Born and raised in Northern Virginia, David bleeds burgundy and gold and claims Northern Virginia to be the greatest place on earth. At the age of 13, David surrendered his life to Christ as Lord and Savior and began a journey that would lead him to discover the depth of God’s grace and mercy. During his year long backpacking trip David fell ill with dysentery from India and began his road to recovery in Swaziland, Africa. It was there he received his calling from the Lord to feed his sheep and enter into ministry.
He graduated from Washington Bible College with a B.A. in Counseling/Psychology. Having started at Reformed Theological Seminary, he is completing his M.Div from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and has been serving as the English Ministry pastor since 2009.
He is married to his beautiful wife Grace and has two amazing children, Aida and David Jr. They have an overly clingy goldendoodle named Stevie and currently reside in Falls Church. David enjoys teaching the Word of God, talking about life over a cup of bargain 7-Eleven coffee and making memories with his family.
James was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and spent most of his childhood in Seoul, South Korea. During his Sophomore year of high school, James heard a message on how the Father’s love was ultimately displayed on the cross through His only begotten Son, Jesus. In response, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Since that day, his life has never been the same.
He graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a B.S. in Biochemistry. He received his M.Div from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2016. He currently serves as the Youth Pastor of Shining Star Community Church.
He married his wife, Joanne, in 2016. He loves to travel, meet people, and experience new cultures. He likes to watch cooking shows, although his cooking skills still need a lot of improvement.
Danny was born and raised in Northern Virginia. When he was 19 years old, he experienced God for the first time during a 40-day conference called Global Leadership Development Institute(GLDI) and decided to follow Jesus Christ.
He graduated from Pepperdine University with a B.A. in Religion. He also received his M.Div from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and is currently working on his Master of Public Policy at Georgetown University.
Danny enjoys reading Science Fiction/Fantasy and playing basketball with his friends at the local gym during his free time.
Jesse was born in Seoul, South Korea and came to the States when he was 11 years old. Since his teenage years, he has been living in Northern Virginia and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior during his 7th grade youth summer retreat.
He is currently completing his B.A. in Biblical Studies at Lancaster Bible College and is preparing to continue his theological study in seminary. He is serving in the English Ministry as a Pastoral Intern and College Ministry Director. He oversees the day to day functions of all aspects of our English Ministry, and his personal ministry involves working with our college students.
His favorite food is donkatsu(fried pork cutlet) and chicken wings. In his free time, he enjoys studying theology, drinking a good cup of coffee, and training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He is also a fan of the Green Bay Packers.
Joseph was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Virginia at a young age. He has been attending Shining Star since he was in middle school. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior while he was at a youth retreat.
He graduated from Liberty University Online with a B.S. in Christian Counseling. He is continuing his studies at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary to become a pastor. Joseph is a Pastoral Intern in the English Ministry with an emphasis in the Youth Ministry and the Praise Team.
As a married man, Joseph loves to spend time with his wife, Joanna. They enjoy trying out new and original restaurants and cafes. He also loves to watch and play sports. He and his wife are proud fans of all the Chicago sports teams.
Esther was born and raised in Northern Virginia and came to know the Lord personally when she was thirteen years old. She was an Art Teacher with Fairfax County Public Schools and then served as a missionary with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) before completing her M.A. in Educational Ministries at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
She is currently serving as the Education Pastor at SSCC and pursuing a Ph.D in Education Leadership at George Mason University.
Esther is a self-proclaimed foodie and an enthusiastic advocate for ice cream and coffee. She loves to travel and experience new cultures and has visited 20 different countries and counting.
Jeanie was born and raised in Northern Virginia. She went to Korea at age 22 for a different experience and taught English to kindergarteners for 7 years and found her wonderful husband there. She had met Jesus at a youth group retreat but was able to deepen her relationship with Him while in Korea, going on short term missions.
She graduated from George Mason University with a B.A. in Communications. She then graduated from Yaeil Theological Seminary with a M.Div in Korea while serving as the aged 3-5 Children's Pastor at Yaeil Church. She is currently the Little Lights Ministry Pastor (ages 3-5 yrs).
Her favorite food is sushi and salad. She enjoys doing yoga and sleeping when she can, since her 2 young boys keep her so busy!
