James Park

James was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and spent most of his childhood in Seoul, South Korea. During high school, he heard a message on the Father’s love, how His love was ultimately displayed on the cross through His only begotten Son, Jesus. In response, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Since that day, his life has never been the same.

He graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a B.S. in Biochemistry. He received his M.Div from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2016. He currently serves as the Lead Pastor in charge of preaching and teaching.

James loves to spend time with his wife Haein and three kids - Timothy, Irene, Luke. He enjoys traveling, watching sports, and learning new things in life.

Danny Lim

Danny was born and raised in Northern Virginia.  When he was 19 years old, he was saved during a 40-day conference called Global Leadership Development Institute (GLDI) and decided to follow Jesus Christ. 

He graduated from Pepperdine University with a B.A. in Religion.  He also received his M.Div from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and has a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University. 

Danny has a passion for the intersection between his faith and public policy, and seeks to share the Gospel through the preaching and teaching of the Word.

Joseph Seo
College/Youth

Joseph was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Virginia at a young age. He has been attending Shining Star since he was in middle school.  He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior while he was at a youth retreat.

He graduated from Liberty University with a B.S. in Christian Counseling. He is currently studying for his M.Div at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Joseph is an Associate Pastor in the English Ministry with an emphasis in the College and Youth ministries.

As a married man, Joseph loves to spend time with his wife, Joanna. They enjoy trying out new and original restaurants and cafes.  He also loves to watch and play sports. He and his wife are proud fans of all the Chicago sports teams.

Paul Park
Assistant Youth

Paul was born in Chungnam, South Korea, and raised in Seoul. He came to know Jesus personally during a youth retreat in 2004.

He graduated from Liberty University with a B.A. in Business. He is currently doing his M.Div at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Paul is an Associate Pastor and serves on the Praise Team and is dedicated to the Youth ministry.

He enjoys cooking and working out at the gym. He also loves drinking coffee. 

Esther Kim

Esther was born and raised in Northern Virginia and came to know the Lord personally when she was thirteen years old. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts and was an Art Teacher with Fairfax County Public Schools. She then went on to serve as a missionary with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) before completing her Masters in Educational Ministries at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

She is currently serving in the Children’s Ministry at SSCC and pursuing a Ph.D in Education Leadership at George Mason University.

Esther, her husband Eric, their son Theo, and their daughter Nora love trying out new restaurants and exploring hiking trails when they can.

Jeanie Moon

Jeanie was born and raised in Northern Virginia. She went to Korea at age 22 for a different experience and taught English to kindergarteners for 7 years and found her wonderful husband there. She had met Jesus at a youth group retreat but was able to deepen her relationship with Him while in Korea, going on short term missions.

She graduated from George Mason University with a B.A. in Communications. She then graduated from Yaeil Theological Seminary with a M.Div in Korea while serving as the aged 3-5 Children's Pastor at Yaeil Church. She is currently serving in the Little Lights Ministry (ages 3-5 yrs).

Her favorite food is sushi and salad. She enjoys doing yoga and sleeping when she can, since her 2 young boys keep her so busy!

Eunice Park

Eunice was born in Korea and moved to the States at a young age. She grew up as an Army Brat traveling around the US. During the summer before high school, she accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. 

She graduated from Washington State University with a B.A. in Art History. After graduation, she spent 2 years in Vladivostok, Russia working as a missionary. She then moved to Northern Virginia in the Fall of 2018.

Eunice enjoys dogs, traveling, and is a coffee enthusiast. One of her goals in life is to have a full passport.
